Based on the approach of design thinking, this course guides students to observe and experience issues in the Architecture, Engineering, and Construction industries as well as everyday contexts, and to apply programming and AI-assisted development in the design and implementation of micro-applications.
This course focuses on everyday and specific issues found in the Architecture, Engineering, and Construction industries and academic environments. Students will learn to identify problems through observation, interviews, design thinking, and case studies, and explore how digital tools or applications can provide practical solutions. The course introduces fundamental programming concepts, app development workflows, user interface and user experience design, and hands-on methods for AI-assisted development and vibe coding. Based on project needs, students may develop a software plugin, standalone application, or web app, progressing through problem definition, feature planning, prototyping, and final presentation. The course emphasizes problem-solving, interdisciplinary collaboration, digital tool application, and professional communication in response to the digital transformation of the AEC industry.
